OLATHE, Kan.- A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Lamar, Mo., for Charlene M. Foster, 83, Olathe, who died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017.

Survivors include her daughters, Angela Bryant and husband John and Diana Foster; a son, Mark Foster and wife Krisann; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Sauvan; a daughter, Teri L. Siems and an infant great-grandson, Maddox Franklin Foster-Bryant.

Mrs. Foster was born Jan. 27, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo., to Ralph and Esther Howard. She attended Northeast High School and later worked at Marion Laboratories in Kansas City. One of her favorite stories was attending a dinner at Ewing and Marion Kauffman’s house and getting lost while trying to find a typewriter to write up a “deal” for Mr. Kauffman.

Later in her life she attended Avilla University and graduated with her Bachelors of Arts in Special Education. She taught until her retirement at Lamar High School, Lamar, Mo. She always enjoyed meeting her former students while out in the community, proud of their achievements. She was active with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed her walks with her friend Pat and attending Tai Chi classes.
