ZOLENA BURNS

LOCKWOOD- Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bland-Brumback Funeral Home in Stockton for Zolena Allegra (Sortors) Burns, 90, who died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Services will follow. Burial will be at Stockton Cemetery.
Survivors include two children, Donna “Sue” Eason and husband Loren, Sheldon, and Gary Thomas and Stephanie Burns, Sunset, S.C.; four grandchildren, Kevin Crockett and wife Marianella, San Antonio, Texas, Jim Crockett and wife Jenica, Springdale, Ark., Brandi Nance and husband Troy, Sheldon and Jenny Brenner and husband Greg, Mokena, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren, Genesis and Cayden Crockett, San Antonio, Texas, Savanah Crockett, Springdale, Ark., Cheyenne Harper, Carthage, Natalie, Danielle and Tyler Nance, Sheldon and Olivia and Josh Brenner, Mokena, Ill.; one great-grandson, Bryston Luke Potter and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rowena.
Mrs. Burns was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Cedar County, to Elza Leonard and Opal (Cornwell) Sortors.
She was a member of the Sheldon Christian Church. She was a farmer’s wife who loved to crochet, sew, go bowling, play cards and mow yards, as well as planting beautiful flowers and gardening. She loved watching her husband play baseball and pitch horseshoes in earlier years and loved watching the hummingbirds from her back porch. She loved spending time with family and friends and playing with her dog, Opie.
She married Cletis “Fat” Leroy Burns on Dec. 3, 1949. He preceded her in death.
