She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; brothers-in-law, Ralph Duncan, Pete Amparan and Eugene Robertson; sisters-in-law, Reba Duncan, Wanda Duncan, Esther Wilhelm, Viola Duncan and Alice Robertson and two nephews, Mike Estes and Stanley Robertson.

Mrs. Duncan was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Barton County, to Jesse and Ethel (Mead) Lowe. She married Bob Duncan on Jan. 26, 1946, at Girard, Kan., and they made their home and farmed in Barton County. They had shared 57 years together before his death on Feb. 21, 2003.

In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a hard working farmwife who met every challenge with determination and perseverance. She had also worked in town through the years at Big Smith, O’Sullivan Industries and Rogers Lures. Her gift of hospitality was evident to everyone she welcomed around her table at home, as well as the Rotarians who looked forward to Tuesday lunch for many years. Loving the outdoors, she could often be found on a tractor in the hayfield, mowing her yard, working in her large gardens, attending to farm animals or fishing at a pond. Not one to be idle, her indoor time was spent cooking, sewing, quilting or working on embroidery projects to share with family and friends.
