LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Daniel Funeral Home for Brenda Rose Harvey, 59, rural Lamar, who died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, surrounded by her family at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, following a hard fought battle with gastric cancer. Burial will be in Oakton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Killey Cemetery or The Brenda Harvey Youth Scholarship Foundation.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Mike, of the home; their daughter, Brooke Wiss and husband Casey and son Brant Harvey and wife Erin, all of Lamar; her brother, Ed Onstott and wife Brenda, Lamar; her sister, Janis Bauer and husband John, Lamar; a brother-in-law, Bill Harvey and wife Bobbi, Liberal; grandchildren, Stetson, Zavrie and Maddix Wiss and Knox and Briggs Harvey; nieces and nephews, Kristin Huke and husband Grady, Rodney Onstott and wife Lacee, T.J. Onstott and wife Jill, Jennifer Choate and husband Austin, Jeff Bauer and wife Mandy, Johnna Chairez and husband Jose, Miranda Harvey and Trevor Harvey; 13 great-nieces and nephews; an uncle, Jim Morgan, Lamar; an aunt, Linda Morgan, Lamar; an aunt, Patsy Andrews, Lamar; an honorary papa, Jack Kirk, as well as a large extended family and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Doris Onstott; her mother and father-in-law, Charles “Chub” and Donna Harvey and a great nephew, Zeke Onstott.

Mrs. Harvey was born Nov. 19, 1958, in Lamar, to Russell and Doris (Morgan) Onstott. She was a proud member of the Lamar High School Class of 1976 and always enjoyed getting together with many of her former classmates.

She married her sweetheart, Mike Harvey, on June 30, 1978, and together they made their home and reared their two children near Lamar. Shortly after being wed, the two began Mike Harvey Construction, where they would go on to build over 150 new homes and businesses in the Lamar area. In the spring of 1993, she obtained her real estate license and began working for Barton County Real Estate. She later founded her own real estate office, Harvey & Co. Realty in 2010.

She was a lifelong member of the Oakton United Methodist Church and was always ready and willing to volunteer wherever there was such a need. Her greatest joy and most valued job was being Nana to her five grandkids. She was honored to have babysat all of them and was always a proud grandmother, attending their numerous sporting events, livestock shows and school functions.
