CARTHAGE- Masonic Rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Daniel Funeral Home for Delbert See Phipps, 91, Carthage, who died at 5:23 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Joplin Gardens. Masonic Rites will be conducted by his great-nephew, Kaleb Forkner and will be followed by a funeral service conducted by another great-nephew, Darrell Phipps. Burial, with military honors, will be in Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, Lloyd Holtzen and wife Mary, Miami, Okla.; sisters-in-law, Frieda Davis, Jasper and Marlene Davis, Lamar; many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces and a large extended family and host of friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Howard and Leroy Phipps.
Mr. Phipps was born Oct. 21, 1926, in Lamar, to John William and Nellie Mae (Baldridge) Phipps. After graduating from Lamar High School he joined the U.S. Army, serving a year of overseas duty during World War II. He returned home and married his sweetheart, Leota Davis on Feb. 21, 1947. They had shared nearly 54 years together before her death on Dec. 15, 2000. He married June Lawson on Sept. 16, 2002 and she died Feb. 19, 2008.
With a sharp mind and outgoing personality, he excelled in his career as a credit union manager, helping his clients who quickly became his friends, with savings and loans for 27 years. He was an active and loyal member of Lamar Masonic Lodge 292 AF & AM and will be remembered for his leadership skills and the compassionate memorial services he conducted for his Masonic Lodge Brothers. He had been a faithful member of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years and had attended Lamar First Christian Church.
