SHELDON- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Steven Ray Smith, 68, Sheldon, who died Saturday morning, Jan. 6, 2018, at Truman Healthcare. Burial will follow in Tolson Cemetery.

Contributions are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Shelly; one son, Billy Smith, Colorado; two daughters, Kristen Gardner and Jet Oberlin, Sheldon and Amanda Smith, Colorado; brothers, John Smith and wife Staci, Carl Junction, Jim Smith, Joplin and Gary Smith, Sheldon; a stepbrother, Carl Morris, Amsterdam, Mo.; sisters, Connie Smith and husband Gary, Longview, Texas and Shelly Sims and husband Dan, Gallatin; step-grandparents, Gerald and Pat Morris, Carl Junction; three adopted grandchildren, Brayden, Izzabell and Cambreigh and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.

Mr. Smith was born Nov. 18, 1949, in Joplin, to Charles and Pauline Smith. He was a heavy machinery operator, a carpenter and a Jack-of-all-trades.

He married Shelly Ryder in Springfield on May 12, 1996.
