JOPLIN- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Nancy Ann Cass, 74, Joplin, who died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 24, 2018, at her home. Burial will be in Nigh Cemetery, northeast of Lamar.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Nigh Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Billy Bob, of the home; a daughter-in-law, Kim Cass-Vaught and husband Joel, Springdale, Ark.; a son-in-law, James Ortega, Joplin; three grandchildren, Jonathan Cass, Cassie Gallemore and husband Brandon and Kaleb Rakes; a brother, Gary Phipps and wife Lois, Joplin; two sisters, Linda Colin and husband Gary, Lamar and Janis Priest, Joplin, and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her children, Brad Cass and Amy Jo Ortega.

Mrs. Cass was born April 22, 1943, in Lamar, to John Howard and Mary (Harman) Phipps. She grew up on the family farm near Irwin and was a 1961 graduate of Lamar High School.

On June 25, 1961, at Lamar, she married her high school sweetheart, Billy Bob Cass and they made their home and farmed in Barton County for several years before moving to Joplin. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a devout Christian and gifted Bible teacher and speaker who enjoyed the fellowship of her friends and sisters in AGLOW and Ladies of the Lord. A hospitable homemaker and wonderful cook, her door was always open and her warm smile welcomed family and friends around her table. She was an avid antique collector and enjoyed making a wide array of ceramics.
