PAUL ALFRED SUTTON
STOTTS CITY- A memorial service will be held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, at Carthage Nazarene, 2000 Grand Ave., for Paul Alfred Sutton, 72, who died at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at his home, following a valiant eight year battle against cancer.
His legacy will live on through his generous decision to donate his organs to further the battle against cancer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carthage Nazarene for their mission trip to the Dominican Republic this summer.
Survivors include his wife, Kamala.
Mr. Sutton was born June 7, 1945, in Joplin, to Charles and Eva (Bailey) Sutton. He was the youngest of 12 children. He grew up in a one room shack on Black Cat Road, but through perseverance and determination became a successful businessman and owner and operator of Gateway Machine for over 40 years. He enjoyed working and even worked full-time until the last two weeks of his life, but he especially enjoyed the friendships he made during his decades in business.
He married Kamala Leaming on Feb. 15, 2004, in a small chapel in Oklahoma. Home was wherever they were together, as they resided in Avilla and Joplin and spent the last nine years on a beautiful farm in Stotts City.
On this hobby farm he spent his time baling hay, raising cattle, admiring the horses and laughing at the antics of his miniature donkeys, Little Boy and Little Girl. He was passionate about his weekend antique finds and was always excited to bring home a new Aladdin lamp for their collection.
