HARLIN A. STUMP

LOCKWOOD-A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lockwood Cemetery for Harlin A. Stump, 90, Lockwood, who died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Stump; one son, Jon Stump and wife Cathy; two stepsons, Wayne VanAcker and Jim VanAcker and wife Cherrie; three daughters, Terri Whitehead and husband Fred, Cindi Liffick and husband Jim and Molli Holmes and husband Mike; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Eggerman and husband Donald and Carole Locke and husband Eldon; three sisters, Ielene Edmonson, Virginia Hemphill and Wanda Kinney; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Stump and two sisters, Bernice Garst and Reba Phipps.

Mr. Stump was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Lawrence County, to Allen and Sadie (Polston) Stump. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifetime farmer and had worked as a manager for the Lockwood M.F.A. Plant Foods. He served as a board member for the M.F.A. and for the Farmers Mutual Insurance Company.

He was a member of the V.F.W. of Jasper and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lockwood. He accepted Christ as his Savior in 1937 and was ordained as a Deacon in 1947 at the Zion Baptist Church.

He married Mildred Bell on Feb. 27, 1981.
