MELBA G. SPRINGGATE

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Services were held June 23, at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel in Overland Park for Melba Gladys Springgate, 92, Overland Park, who died Friday, June 19, 2015.

Donations may be made in her name to a charity of the donor's choice.

Survivors include her husband, Clinton Springgate; two daughters, Terry Tucker and Beth Springgate; two granddaughters; a younger brother, Kenneth Bentlage of Golden City and his children and a niece, Carol Hippert, daughter of her older brother Alvin (now deceased).

Mrs. Springgate was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Mount Sterling, Mo., to Chris and Anna Bentlage. She was a graduate of Golden City High School and moved to Kansas City to begin her career working at Travelers Insurance Company and as a receptionist/switchboard operator at the Chevrolet Leeds Plant for 18 years.

She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, volunteered for the American Cancer Society and was an assistant Girl Scout leader.

She married Clinton Springgate in 1963 and they recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
