The high winds of Tuesday, March 6, caused an interruption of electric service to much of southern and eastern Lamar, lasting approximately three and one-half hours. In the vicinity of the MFA elevator, a support arm on a utility pole gave way, allowing two lines to touch and blowing fuses at a number of residences in the area. All fuses were replaced before service was restored shortly after 6 p.m.
