LUTHER PENNELL

RURAL LAMAR- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Blank-Brumback Funeral Home in Stockton for Luther Warren Pennell, 84, rural Lamar, who died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at his farm. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery in Lamar.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, at 1 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell; children, Luther Jr., Janet, Daniel, Daina and Sara; grandchildren, Rebekah, Deborah, Matthew, Crystal, Savannah, Nathaniel, Rachel, Keresha, Moriah, Camillia, Justin, Amillia, Pearce, Seth, Noland, Andrew, Jason and Caleb and great-grandchildren, Thomas, Austin, Emma, Allison, Anna, Owen, Edna, Ivee,Triston, Rylun, Nathan, Gabriella, Randy, Makalia, Olethia, Delana, Chrsitian, Aaron and Sterling.
Mr. Pennell was born April 12, 1933, in Sarcoxie County, to Alfred and Enola (Parrish) Pennell. He loved the outdoors and dreamed of being a farmer. At the age of 11 he and two of his brothers, Louis and Nick, bought the farm where he lived and worked for 73 years.
He served in the United States Army in 1952 and 1953, as a wheeled vehicle mechanic in Japan. He married Jewell McDonald on May 21, 1958. In 1965 he started a moonlight job at O’Sullivan Industries to help provide for his growing family, where he worked in machine maintenance for 30 years. He ended his time at O’Sullivan Industries at age 62 to devote more time to his farming career.
