KAY RAMSEY

LAMAR- Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lamar First Christian Church for Lola “Kay” VanDorn Ramsey, 80, Lamar, who died unexpectedly Monday, April 2, 2018, at Cox Barton County Hospital. Burial was in Liberal City Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Ramsey, of the home; a son, Michael VanDorn and wife Christal, Haskell, Ark.; a stepson, David Ramsey and wife Judy, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Theresa Hewitt and husband Jeff, Nevada, Mo. and Marilyn and Heath Schooling, Springdale, Ark.; stepdaughters, Vicky Deering, Smithville, Sandy Sutton and husband John, Leonardtown, Md., Nanette Shoemaker, Platt City, Angela Lemieux and husband Patrick, Kansas City, Mo. and Vicky Volkman and husband Carl, Pineville; two brothers, Gene Venable and wife Dorothy, Stockton and Gary Venable and wife Janet, Liberty; two sisters, Linda Gonzales and husband Ross, Liberty and Brenda Cornine and husband Marvin, Blackwater; grandchildren, Justin Sprouls and Tara Meyer, Annie Combs, Shelby Carnes, Joshua VanDorn, Kaleb VanDorn, Kyle VanDorn and many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard VanDorn and a nephew, Todd Cornine.
Mrs. Ramsey was born June 1, 1937, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Clarence Edwin and Lola Grace (Leatherman) Venable. She was a 1955 graduate of Liberal High School and married Richard R. VanDorn in August of that same year. She worked as a clerk for the USDA office for over 21 years. After retirement, she managed Liberal Golden Homes and was a caregiver for Mary Kay Miller. She was also a member of Lamar First Christian Church. She married Bob Ramsey in Liberal on Sept. 4, 2010.
