SHELDON- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Jeanne Lee Achey, 62, Sheldon, who died at her home on Sunday, June 3, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. Greg Ferree will officiate. Burial will follow in Hackney Cemetery, southeast of Jasper.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested to the Youth Fund or Music Fund at First Presbyterian Church in Nevada.

Survivors include her husband, Lynn Achey, of the home; two daughters, Christine Messner and husband Shawn, Carl Junction and Sandy Jimerson and husband Chad, Carthage; two stepdaughters, Cora Solum and husband Phillip, Carthage and Sabra Bates and husband Andrew, Warrensburg; one son, Lonnie Friedli, Joplin; two stepsons, Nathan Achey and wife Brandy, Neosho and Matthew Achey and wife Jessica, Lamar; her parents, Dean and Shirley Baxter, Milo; four brothers, Mark Baxter and wife Debbie, Cottage Grove, Minn., Mike Baxter and wife B.J., Sheldon, Melvin Baxter and wife Jan, Silver Springs, Fla. and Daniel Baxter and wife Dilly, Nevada; 17 grandchildren and many extended family members.

Mrs. Achey was born May 2, 1956, in Grandview, to Dean and Shirley (Kessler) Baxter. She moved with her family to Nevada, Mo., in 1958 and stayed in the area throughout her life.

Se was a Bronaugh High School graduate and earned an Associates Degree in Accounting from MSSU in Joplin. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she had worked at Freeman Health Systems in Joplin and Great West Insurance in Ft. Scott, Kan. Devoted to her faith, she was an active elder and choir member at First Presbyterian Church in Nevada. Her family was incredibly special to her and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting, crochet, gardening and being out in nature.
