LAMAR- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home for Elsie Ritchey, 80, Lamar, who died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at her home, following a long illness. Burial will be in Morehead Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; three son, Charles Ritchey and wife Becky, Lamar, Randy Ritchey and wife Diane, Dallas, Texas and Stuart Ritchey and wife Rachelle, San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Pam Ritchey, Raymore and Nancy Ritchey, Springfield; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three brothers, Glen Stump and wife Connie, Bellamy, Jerry Stump and wife Wanda, Springfield and Joe Stump, Bellamy; five sisters, Edna Fite and husband Charles, Jasper, Opal Harris and husband Gene, Golden City, Lois Watson and husband Anthony, Neck City, Mary Brake and husband Steve, Billings and Jane Boehne, Wichita, Kan.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joyce Ritchey; an infant grandson, Jacob Ritchey and a brother-in-law, Charles Fite.

Mrs. Ritchey was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Greenfield, to Jim and Lela (Cowan) Stump. She was a 1955 graduate of Golden City High School and was a lifelong area resident. She married Charle Ritchey on March 14, 1958, in Jasper County. Together they reared five children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Lamar, she was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for Ritchey Refrigeration, the family business. She was an avid collector of cookbooks and loved cooking, gardening, mowing her lawn and bluegrass music. She and her husband Charles loved to travel together and had visited all 50 states, often attending bluegrass festivals all over the country.
