PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.-A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at The Parish of Saint Matthew, 1031 Bienveneda Ave. in Pacific Palisades, for Billie Anne Chancellor, 83, who died Sunday, July 12, 2015.

Survivors include a sister, Jean; brother, Larry; two sons, Buddy and Rick and two granddaughters, Elise and Emily.

Mrs. Chancellor was born July 19, 1931, in Missouri, to William and Anna Hale. She grew up on the family farm in Sheldon, Mo., where she helped rear her brother and sisters. She excelled in school, graduating at the age of 16, when she began teaching. She was a graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in education. Upon a trip to Lamar she met Harold Hal Chancellor, Jr. and they eventually married. Following the Korean War, in which her husband was a fighter pilot in the Navy, they moved to California and resided in Pacific Palisades.

Mrs. Chancellor was actively involved with the local community as it grew and was a volunteer with the Santa Monica-Westside Charity League during the 1960's. Later, she reared her sons as a single mother. Throughout this time she built a successful escrow business, California Investors Escrow in Marina Del Rey, which she owned for 30 years. She was active in the real estate business, having served on the Vernice-Marina Del Rey Board of Realtors.

She was a member of Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church for over 55 years and had a deep affection for Saint Matthew's, where her ashes will be interned for eternity. She will always be remembered for her character, strength, commitment and caring nature.
