Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow Several area runners had a terrific day at the cross country state championships in Jefferson City Saturday. Two of those runners were Lamar's Kolin Overstreet (left) and Joe Kremp, shown at a meet earlier this fall. Overstreet won the state championship with a time of 16:34.70, 15 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Kremp took 25th. Look for complete coverage of both the Class 1 and Class 2 championship races in an upcoming issue of the Democrat.

The SW Select basketball team ended their season by winning the Kansas State Championship with a record of 21-1 in three tournaments, plus Kansas State. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower. Pictured are, left to right, Lamar Bank & Trust President Pat O’Neal, Barco Drive-In Theatre fundraiser director Landin Myers and representing the Plaza/Barco and Lamar Community Betterment, Scott Kelley.
