RONALD JOE KONANTZ

HOUSTON, Texas- Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Houma, La., for Ronald Joe Konantz, 72, Houston, who died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018, at his home in Houston, following a short illness. Rev. Jerry Carris officiated.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sue Konantz, Wildwood, Fla.; his daughters, Pamela Kristine Konantz and Leslie Jean Konantz and three grandchildren, Bryson Joseph Bergeron, Sydney Valdez and Jose Valdez IV. He also leaves behind his mother, Gwendolyn S. Konantz Rand; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan Latta, Michelle and Howard Seligson, Marty Konantz and Julio Mojica and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Joe “Pop” Konantz; grandparents, Carl and Marie Konantz and James M and Beatrice Greer Grooms Streeter; aunts and uncles, Jean (Konantz) and Russell Rand, Walter and Doris Konantz, Floyd and Lucy Grooms and Gile and Mary Alma Grooms; a cousin, Bob Martel and a niece, Terry Hill.

Mr. Konantz was born Dec. 22, 1946, at Fort Leavenworth Army Hospital in Kansas to Gwendolyn (Streeter) Konantz and Harold Konantz.

He was a 1965 graduate of Ocoee High School and attended Lake Sumter Jr. College in Leesburg, Fla. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and later became a professional petroleum engineer.

He was a private pilot and loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren hunting, fishing and boating. His greatest passion was watching any sport, as long as either his grandchildren or the Florida Gators were playing.
