NEVADA, Mo.- A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pentecostal Assembly Church in Nevada, for Mary Evelyn Dickey, 79, Nevada, who died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, following a lengthy illness.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home.

Survivors include three children, Pam Godsey and husband Chuck, Nevada; Billy Dean Dickey and wife Ladena, Stockton and Anita Moore and husband Shirold, Nevada; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Venable, Kansas City, Mo. and one sister, Shirley Yokley and husband Joe, Bronaugh.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Shawn Dickey and Brent Godsey; a great-great-grandson, Isiah McElroy and two brothers, Dean Venable and Billy Venable.

Mrs. Dickey was born Dec. 6, 1939, in Liberal, to Wilfred Carl and Minnie Lorraine (Winship) Venable. She grew up in Barton County and was a 1957 graduate of Liberal High School. She worked at Nevada State Hospital for 32 years until her retirement.

She enjoyed helping others and working as a caretaker for several people in need. She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church in Nevada. She enjoyed playing music at church, trail rides on mules and especially loved spending time with family.

She married Billy R. Dickey on Aug. 20, 1957, in Lamar. He died Sept. 28, 2017.
