Golden City Eagles defeat Lockwood in district title game

Photo courtesy of Kerenza Crane There was a lot to smile about for the Golden City Eagles and their fans Saturday night as they pulled out a hard-fought victory over Lockwood in the district title game. The Eagles move on to the Class 1 State Sectional Wednesday at Webb City.

Lamar Tigers dominate Jasper
The SW Select basketball team ended their season by winning the Kansas State Championship with a record of 21-1 in three tournaments, plus Kansas State. Sixth grade girls earn Kansas State Championship
Lockwood High School cheerleaders Kalsee Garoutte, Rachel Baugh and Mekenzi Weimer recently received Academic All-State honors. To receive Academic All-State for cheer, one must be a varsity cheerleader, have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.5, be in the top 20 percent of their class and be a current senior, junior or sophomore.

Deadline nearing for citywide garage sale listing
Shiloh Wilkinson, daughter of TJ and Melissa Wilkinson, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Shiloh enjoys drawing and reading in her spare time. She plans on playing volleyball or basketball next year. Her favorite subjects are Social Studies and Reading, because both teachers make it a lot of fun while they teach.
