LOWELL PUGH
GOLDEN CITY- Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood for Harold Lowell Pugh, 87, Golden City, who died Monday, Aug. 12, 2019. Burial will follow in Dudenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, at Prairie Sunshine Art Center (former Pugh Funeral Home), 400 Chestnut St., Golden City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to Prairie Sunshine Art Center or Missouri Prairie Foundation, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Pugh and his children, Holly and Charles Stansberry, St. Charles, Phillip Pugh, Sand Springs, Okla., Ivy and Marshall Douglas, Mustang, Okla.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pugh was born March 16, 1932, in Golden City, to Harold Franklin and Hazel Wanda (Thomas) Pugh. He was united in marriage to Bertha “Betty” Margaret Frock on Dec. 28, 1952, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, where he remained a lifelong active member.
He was a lifelong resident of Golden City. He graduated from Golden City Schools in 1950 and the St. Louis College of Mortuary Service in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He also served in the U.S. Army Active Reserve from 1975-1982.
He joined the family hardware and funeral home business in 1951. His love of the environment and preservation of the earth and its resources led him to work tirelessly to preserve, maintain and to help educate others on prairie management, grasses and flowers. In 1999 he began publication of “The Dead Beat – Caregivers Soapbox”, dedicated to those serving in the funeral industry. He exited the funeral business in 2017 after 66 years. He continued working to establish the Prairie Sunshine Art Center.
Mr. Pugh was active in many civic and cultural organizations. He was known for the love of his family and community. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
