FRONTENAC, Kan.- A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Nashville Christian Church in Nashville, Mo., for Wanda M. Kirby, 94, formerly of Lamar, Mo., who died at 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at the Oakview Estates in Frontenac. Rev. Woody Wilkinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Nashville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg.

The family suggests memorials to the Nashville Christian Church, in care of the mortuary at 114 E. 4th St., in Pittsburg.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay McKee and husband Jim, Liberal and Lois LeVaugh and husband Ken, Sheldon; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Kirby, Tipton, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Scott McKee and wife Cathy, Patrick McKee and wife Tanya, Kulley LeVaugh and wife Mendy, Latisha Mailes and husband Brandon, Sean Kirby and wife Annemarie, Zach Kirby and wife Hope and Kasey Kirby and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Bill Kirby; one brother, Brad Shelburn; one grandson, Trevor Kirby and two great-granddaughters, Casey Ogle and Carey McKee.

Mrs. Kirby was born Feb. 19, 1925, at Pittsburg, to L.H. and Sylvia (Smith) Shelburn. She attended local schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1943.

She married Kermit R. Kirby on Dec. 16, 1943, in Pittsburg. He died Nov. 18, 2005.

Mrs. Kirby worked as a farmwife and a seamstress in the alteration department at the Jones Department Store.

Membership was held in the Nashville Christian Church, Nashville, Mo., where she was an active Sunday school teacher. She also was a 4-H leader and a member of the Pittsburg Quilt Guild.
