JASPER- Friends gathered from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Daniel Funeral Home for Genevieve Waltz, 93, formerly of Jasper, who died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood. A graveside service followed at Fasken Cemetery, east of Carthage, at 2:30 p.m.

Contributions are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House in Joplin or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Pagacz and Sam Foster and Debra Willhite and husband Charles, all of Lamar; nine grandchildren, Samantha Hall and husband Russ, Jasper, Valerie McGrady and husband Jim, Pittsburg, Mo., Nicholas Foster and wife Stacy, Asbury, Michael Foster and wife Tana, Lockwood, Melanie Jones and husband Ryan, Barling, Ark., Amie Primm, Jasper, Bradley Waltz and wife Jama, Jasper, Tabbitha Stansell and husband Brad, Wisconsin and Abby Duncan, Lamar; a daughter-in-law, Villa Waltz, Jasper; her late daughter Vicky’s partner in life, Eddie Bastings, Carterville; 25 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Waltz; a son, Gary Waltz; a daughter, Vicky Myers; two grandchildren, Buffy Russell and Jeremy Duncan and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Waltz was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Jasper County to Floyd Pennington and Lillian (Moore) Pennington. She was a Jasper High School graduate. She married George Harrison Waltz on June 24, 1945 and together they reared four children. She was a farm wife and loved working in the fields and with the cattle, but her biggest loves were her horses.
